About Us
Building a Community Center is a bit like a barn raising, even if it is a virtual Community
Center. It takes the input and support of the whole community to make it happen; and if it’s
successful it will benefit the whole community.I’ve outlined on these pages what we have in mind as a starting place, but would like to know what you want and what will benefit you in an online community center. As we receive ideas we’ll add them and find ways for you to talk back. This site is something of an experiment to see what your interest is and how we can dialogue. It will evolve and change.
Over the years I’ve watched as people get involved with the community - how they grow, heal and transform themselves. At some point most look for a way to get involved and give something of themselves back by becoming a healer, reader, teacher or support a church or organization. In Jon’s life he became very frustrated when he tried each, but none seemed to call him. It wasn’t until he stopped ‘trying’ and allowed Life to show him the ‘door’ - in his case it was literally The Door Opener, which just happened to be a perfect fit for his talents and temperament. This time around he knew not to try and once again Life showed him the ‘door,’ behind which was the concept of the virtual Community Center.
If you have unique ideas for web sites or web pages of your own that would be of general interest to the community we might be able to include them on the Community Center for you to maintain or link to them is such a way that they are part of the Community Center. Lots of possibilities.
Professionals
At this time I’d like to invite those of you who have your own small businesses - website design, graphic arts, public relations, marketing, law, accounting, fund raising, etc. to see if raising the Community Center and making it a success might be a place where you would like to do service. The intent is to create this site with a minimum outlay of funds so that the money the site raises can be used to reach others ready to take the first steps to transforming themselves; for, as we know, the way to transform the world is to transform one person at a time. And as energy given needs to be returned, those who contribute their time and energy will be included on our Business Resources page to help those in holistic businesses find professionals who understand their needs. Indeed that will be the only way to be on that page. Another experiment.
Donations
And we won’t turn down donations of money, as even with a lot of donated time the Community Center will take the equivalent of virtual boards, paint and nails. Jon has tossed in $1,000 to buy the virtual land and welcomes all who would join him.
